X factor winners Little Mix have shot straight to number one in the UK charts with their debut single Cannonball, just one week after they were crowned champions of the 2011 series.

The song notched up sales of over 210,000 in its first week on release, giving it the biggest first week sales for a single so far in 2011.

And it also outsold the rest of the top five combined.

It was also good news for Damien Rice, whose original version has enjoyed a surge in popularity following last weekend’s final, re-entering the charts at number 19.

And other acts who appeared on the final have also seen their sales boosted – most notably Coldplay, whose song Paradise went back up the charts to number two, and En Vogue, who re-entered at number 27 with Don’t Let Go – which was performed by the girl band on Saturday night’s final.

Leona Lewis, meanwhile, scored a new entry at number eight with her latest single Hurt, which she performed on the final last Saturday night.

However it wasn’t such good news for the X Factor finalists’ charity single Wishing On A Star, which tumbled 15 places down the charts to 17.
