Louis Walsh has signed up for the next series of The X Factor – but has reportedly shunned a pay rise, agreeing to remain on his £1m salary for the show.

According to The Sun the Irishman – the only member of the panel to have participated in every series of the show – told producers it was not fair to demand a raise when others were having financial problems.

As such he has opted to stay on his current rate – even though fellow judge Gary Barlow is said to be seeking a raise on his £1.5m pay packet, and Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly also demanding more money.

Meanwhile Sharon Osbourne is said to have signed up to replace Tulisa in a deal worth £1.8m.

“Louis is mindful of economic troubles, particularly in his native Ireland where the property market has crashed, so he didn’t think it was right to ask for a pay rise,” a source told the paper.

“A £1million deal is plenty for anyone and he’s just happy to have his place back on the panel.”

Despite speculation over who will be on the panel when the series returns in the autumn, the line-up has yet to be confirmed.

However reports emerged this week that Sharon Osbourne had signed a deal to return to the show, bring her back to the panel for the first time since 2007.

It has been suggested she will rejoin her fellow judges when X Factor auditions kick off in Glasgow in early June.
