ITV2's hit reality show Love Island is slowly taking over the telly worldwide. It already has an Australian spin-off. Next up is Love Island America.

Love Island mania is slowly taking over the world.

Following the first season of Love Island Australia, which aired Down Under for six weeks this summer, next up is Love Island America!

US telly bosses have snapped up the format rights from ITV and are developing their own version which is officially described as follows:

“The road to love never runs smoothly. Challenges and dramatic twists abound as the Islanders form alliances, while relationships are made in an effort to win the ultimate prize. Viewers have the opportunity to shape events on screen as they watch the relationships develop, and ultimately crown one lucky couple as the winners who walk away with a cash prize.”

Though it remains to be seen if the American version will also be filmed in Mallorca, Spain like the UK and Australian versions.

TV execs are clearly hoping that American viewers who already love such hit reality dating shows as Bachelor In Paradise and Temptation Island will tune in for Love Island.

Meanwhile, TV Tonight reports Love Island Australia will finally be shown in the UK, after fans bombarded ITV with requests to show the series. Phew!

Love Island Australia starts from Monday 13 August at 11:00pm on ITVBe
