Bethany Platt hasn’t even left the show yet…
Lucy Fallon shocked viewers when she announced earlier this month that she is quitting the role of Bethany Platt on Coronation Street.
But despite her character not departing the cobbles until next year, Lucy has already hinted at a possible return for Bethany.
Speaking of her decision to leave the show, Lucy said: “I will be sad but I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the future, although I have no idea what’s going to happen, it’s quite scary.
“When I leave I’ll have been there for five years and I’ve never done anything else so I just want to try new things and do new things.”
But it sounds like Lucy is a little nervous about her uncertain future. She added to the Mirror: “But I’ll end up going back – I’ll be back.
“It’s been really good and I owe everything to the show. Hopefully [I’ll be back]. We’ll see, but you never know, I might end up getting killed in a tram crash.”
Announcing her departure from the show earlier this month, Lucy said in a statement: “After the most incredible four years, I have made the extremely difficult decision to leave Coronation Street at the end of my contract in 2020. It’s hard to put into words how much this show means to me.
“I’ve made lifelong friends with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry, I’ve had some terrific and immensely important storylines and I’ve laughed with the best people everyday. I’m so thankful to Iain [Macleod, the show’s producer] and everyone at Coronation Street, I owe everything to them and I will miss them greatly.”
So far seven cast members, including Lucy, have announced they have quit the ITV soap; Katie McGlynn, Faye Brookes, Kym Marsh, Tristan Gemmill, Bhavna Limbachia and Connie Hyde.
