Strictly Come Dancing contestant Lulu has admitted she was disappointed with herself after finishing bottom of the judges scoreboard on Friday night’s opening show.

The 60s pop legend scored just 17 points from the panel after forgetting the steps to her cha cha cha – leading Craig Revel Horwood to describe the routine as “a complete dance disaster”.

And later on she took to her Twitter page to express her disappointment.

“Oh my god it just hit me like a brick!” she tweeted. “I am gutted – Feel so bad. I let all the people down who support me. I will try harder next week :(“

Robbie Savage – who finished in second last place with 19 points – was also feeling the pressure after the show.

“Gutted for Ola , give everything , but I must realise I’m going out first! I feel like throwing the towel in, don’t know if I can give everything, train train train and get hammered at end of it! Knew it!” the footballer said.

Ola Jordan, however, was full of praise for her pupil, saying on her Twitter page that “Robbie feels like he let me down and he didn’t, so proud of him!!!”

Meanwhile, astrologer Russell Grant began trending on Twitter soon after Friday night’s show – when he won the first audience standing ovation of the series for his flamboyant cha cha cha with partner Flavia Cacace.

“Thank you for everything stage daughter,” Russell later said on his own Twitter page. “the standing ovation from the wonderful audience is about YOU and me, together.”

The seven remaining celebrities in the competition will take to the dancefloor for the first time on Saturday’s show.
