Actor Mark Benton is set to deliver a performance on Strictly Come Dancing that is truly out of this world, when he takes to the air in a spacesuit.
The former Waterloo Road star has been rehearsing in his intergalactic costume ahead of Saturday night’s Halloween-themed show, which will see him performing a paso doble with partner Iveta Lukosiute.
And in doing so he will become the latest celebrity dancer to make an airborne entrance into his routine – following in the footsteps of Anne Widdecombe and Russell Grant, who was fired out of a cannon at Wembley Arena.
The 47-year-old has had mixed fortunes on the show so far, having delivered a string of serious – and not so serious – routines during his Strictly career.
His rap-themed cha cha, performed to the MC Hammer hit U Can’t Touch This – was described as ‘awful’ by Craig Revel Horwood, although he won praise for his waltz on last Saturday night’s show.
“You transported me,” Darcey Bussell told him. “One week you’re the Latin man and now you’re this real elegant gentleman.”
Mark will take to the floor along with 11 other remaining celebrities on Saturday night’s Strictly.
