Warren has to move from the south up to Preston when Anne’s father falls ill. Warren suddenly finds himself doing a job he doesn’t like, living in an area he hates and trying to care for two teenage stepsons he never wanted.

Men Behaving star Martin previously revealed that he didn’t want to do another sitcom, but felt he had to do it because the script was so good.

“I had kind of told myself that I didn’t want to do another sitcom, but because this came from Hat Trick I thought it was worth a read and the script is just so funny that I didn’t want anyone else to do it,” he said.

Martin says Warren feels “just like an old-fashioned sitcom”

Martin, who recently won critical acclaim for his portrayal of real-life detective Colin Sutton in ITV drama Manhunt, added that while Warren isn’t very likeable, viewers will love him.

“Warren is horrible and you like him because of that! I like the script because it’s just like an old-fashioned sitcom, except it’s not done in front of a live audience.”

Jimmy Mulville, Managing Director, Hat Trick Productions said: “Great scripts attract great actors and this was the case with Warren. Martin plays the central role to perfection and is supported by a fantastic cast. We can’t wait to make it.”
