Toast Of London star Matt Berry looks set to be the toast of The British Comedy Awards after his show racked up six nominations.

Co-creator and star Matt is up for three awards himself – Best Actor for Toast of London, Best Comedy Breakthrough Artist for his role in BBC show House Of Fools and Best Internet Comedy Short for his film Lone Wolf.

While the BBC and Channel 4 dominate the nominations, ITV has earned just one nod – for Ant and Dec, in the running for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality for their hosting skills on reality show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse’s spoof documentary Harry And Paul’s Story Of The Twos, celebrating 50 years of BBC Two, has four nominations, including Best Comedy Actor for both Enfield and Whitehouse.

In addition to Matt’s Best Actor nomination, the show is up for Best Sitcom, Best New Comedy Programme, Best Comedy Moment, Best Comedy Breakthrough Artist (for Harry Peacock) and Best TV Comedy Actress (Doon Mackichan).

Comedy veterans Monty Python’s Flying Circus are in the running for two awards for their reunion show Monty Python Live (Mostly) and its accompanying documentary on UKTV.

The ceremony, hosted by Jonathan Ross, will be staged in December and will screen on Channel 4.

Two new categories have been introduced – Best Internet Comedy Short and Best Comedy Moment of 2014. And the Best Comedy Film and Best International Comedy Programme categories have been reinstalled, with Lena Dunham’s critically acclaimed Girls among the four US shows in the running.

There will be two special awards given out on the night – the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award and the British Comedy Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. The King or Queen of comedy 2014 will also be revealed – a title Jack Whitehall has held for the last two years.
