Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson are neck-and-neck to win this year’s X Factor judging by online ratings and reviews, according to iTunes.
The pair, both of whom have never had to perform in the bottom two sing-off, are the top-rated acts on the site with viewers awarding them a total of eight and half stars each out of maximum of 10 following last weekend’s performances.
Matt and Rebecca also have exactly the same number of ratings and reviews on iTunes, suggesting they are both equal public favourites.
For the first time in X Factor history, viewers have been able to visit Apple’s music download store to buy tracks performed on the weekend’s shows and rate the performance of each finalist.
They can award a number of stars and write reviews giving an interesting insight into the mood of the public, particularly when it comes to the winner.
The iTunes figures also suggest the public vote would have been incredibly close between Cher Lloyd and Mary Byrne, with both scoring six stars out of 10.
YouTube figures may also be a good indication of who the public favourites are. Currently, boyband One Direction are in the lead with 289,746 views of their two performances on Saturday with a star rating of seven and a half.
Rebecca has had a total of 263,639 views, Matt is slightly behind with 210,863 views and Cher comes in with a total of 145,960 views.
According to bookmakers, Matt is 5/6 to win, One Direction 9/4, Rebecca 7/2 and Cher 20/1.
