Amanda Mealing leads the cast of fast-paced action drama Strike Back: Project Dawn, which starts this Sunday on Sky1. Here the cast tell us more…

Best known for her role as Connie Beauchamp in BBC1 medical drama Holby City, Amanda plays Colonel Eleanor Grant, commanding officer of elite operations unit, Section 20.

Her mission is to track down infamous terrorist leader Latif – and she needs the right mix of brains and brawn to help.

“Colonel Grant is cool, cold, tough, very intelligent obviously is a high-ranking female officer in a male-dominated world,’ she says. “Sgt Stonebridge is her perfect soldier, while Damien Scott is a rebel. She knows if she sends them out they’re likely to get the job done.”

Philip Winchester, who plays Sgt Stonebridge, threw himself into the show’s spectacular stunts.

“There was an explosion we were going to be near and the stunt choreographer told everybody besides Sullivan [Stapleton] and myself to stand 250 yards away. As everyone walked away, we thought: ‘There’s no turning back now’.”

Meanwhile, Sullivan, who plays Scott, had to combine stunts with nudity.

He says: “Sex scenes are hard anyway, but when you’ve got to get up in the middle of that sex scene and fight two stunt guys while nude, that’s a weird day at the office.”

Strike Back: Project Dawn starts on Sunday, August 20 at 9pm on Sky1.
