Mel Giedroyc has revealed she is working hard to lose the 12 pounds she gained filming the latest series of The Great British Bake Off.
The comedian and presenter – who co-hosts the BBC cookery competition with comedy partner Sue Perkins – loves tasting the treats created by the contestants, but admits it takes its toll on her waistline.
Mel confessed: “I have eaten some of the most divine… I can’t even go there, it’s emotional for me the things I have eaten on this series. Unbelievable! Savoury, sweet, pastry, bun, dough, cake, whatever it is, amazing!
“And of course when you finish the series you have at least 12 pounds to lose around the old midriff, so I’m trying to get onto that at the moment.”
The host insisted the standard was even higher on series four than the last series, which saw John Whaite crowned the surprise winner, in an all-male final.
Mel exclaimed: “Words fail me, the standard is even higher. I thought it couldn’t go any higher than series three, but it’s up there. It’s extraordinary.”
