Mel and Sue say they won't be moving to Channel 4 with Bake Off, so who will replace them as hosts of the hit baking series?
Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc will step down as hosts of The Great British Bake Off, following the show’s move to Channel 4 – but who could replace them?
We take a look at some of the most likely – and unlikely – candidates…
Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French
Mel and Sue’s warm-hearted banter has always been a crucial ingredient to the Bake Off’s success, so comedy duo French and Saunders could be the perfect candidates for the job. William Hill bookmakers currently rate Jennifer an 8/1 shot for the role.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield
The cheerful couple help millions of viewers prepare for their day on ITV breakfast show This Morning. Could they make the switch to Channel 4?
Chris Evans and Denise Van Outen
After a disappointing spell at the helm of BBC1 flagship show Top Gear, Chris Evans might be eager to prove a point to his former employers by agreeing to host the baking show next year.
Despite the news that TFI Friday will not return for a new series, Evans has a great relationship with Channel 4 and he could form a formidable partnership with fellow ex-Big Breakfast presenter Denise Van Outen.
Ant and Dec
The lovable Geordies are undoubtedly the finest double act in Britain, but could they stand the heat of the Bake Off tent? Recruiting them would undoubtedly be a massive coup for Channel 4.
The popular comic already hosts the Beeb’s spin-off show An Extra Slice and has a good relationship with Channel 4. Maybe Jo could step up and present the main show next autumn… She is the current bookies’ favourite at 6/1.
Trinny and Susannah
They enjoyed great success with fashion show What Not To Wear on BBC1, but struggled to achieve the same success when the format moved to ITV (…is there a lesson here?). Trinny and Susannah would have to tone down their abrasive approach for Bake Off, but they were never short of irreverent humour and might be a good fit.
Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry
Channel 4 has spent many many millions to acquire The Great British Bake Off, so maybe they could save a bit of cash by getting their judges to host the show as well?
Other names in the mix according to William Hill include Sarah Millican, Davina McCall and Emma Willis.
