Michelle Williams has revealed she tried to set up Ann Widdecombe on a blind date after meeting the ex-MP on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Destiny’s Child star also revealed she had become ‘great friends’ with fellow contestant Patsy Kensit.

She told Look magazine: “There’s something about her spirit that we just connected. She is somebody I can see myself keeping in touch with. I also told Ann I wanted to set her up on a blind date, but she said: ‘No, I want to live out the rest of my years in peace’.”

The singer, who is dancing with Brendan Cole, said she got his wife’s permission to get up close and personal with him on the dancefloor.

She said: “His wife, Zoe, tweeted me, saying: ‘Michelle, it’s OK. You can touch him. You’re going to have a hot rumba’. So as long as she understands I’m not getting fresh with her husband.”

Michelle has also made quite an impression on former EastEnder Kara Tointon, who said she was ‘starstruck’ when she first met her.

Kara said: “I’m a massive Destiny’s Child fan. I really want to ask her for her autograph, but I didn’t want her to feel weird. I will though at some point. I have to.

“She’s such a great girl and her one-liners, like ‘Bring him to mama’ when she was paired with Brendan was hilarious.”

The actress also admitted she thinks she is ‘the luckiest contender’ after she was teamed up with dance partner Artem Chigvintsev.

She said: “He’s gorgeous in every way and his accent is pretty nice – he has a lovely voice to go with it. I couldn’t really have asked for more.”
