Princes William and Harry’s Concert for Diana was watched by an audience of nearly 15 million viewers.

A huge 14.8 million – 60.2 per cent of the TV audience – tuned in to see the BBC One coverage from 10pm to 10.15pm, when Sir Elton John was performing near the end of the show.

The concert, which featuring acts such as Duran Duran, Lily Allen, Joss Stone, the English National Ballet and rapper P Diddy, attracted an average of 8.9 million – a 44.4 per cent share of the audience, during the day.

Around 500 million people are thought to have watched Sunday’s event in 140 different countries.

More than 60,000 people attended the show at Wembley Stadium, held to mark what would have been Princess Diana’s 46th birthday.

William was joined in the royal box by Kate Middleton, fuelling rumours the couple are back together, while all eyes were on Harry when he shared a kiss with girlfriend Chelsy Davy as the event began.
