Model show gets a dressing down

Supermodel Tyra Banks is back in the firing line after her TV show was slated by one of its contestants.

Last month the model was forced to endure jibes about her weight when tabloids printed unflattering photos of her in a swimsuit. Now the show she hosts – America’s Next Top Model, currently being shown in the UK on Living TV – has been lambasted by one of its former winners.

Adrianne Curry laid into the series on her personal blog, saying that its producers have treated her unfairly.

Adrianne won the first series of the hit reality show, the prize for which was supposed to be a modelling contract with Revlon.

However, the model writes online: “We were told the winner would be an instant millionaire, that our faces would be plastered everywhere in Revlon ads. None of which turned out to be true… I still haven’t got paid for the work I did for them!”

She adds that the Revlon deal turned out to be one day’s work at a convention, and claims that the girls on the show were kept in deliberately inhumane conditions – becoming food and sleep-deprived – to ensure high drama.

The makers of the programme, including Tyra Banks, have yet to respond to the criticism, although Adrianne hasn’t done so badly out of the deal. Not only has she appeared on several other reality shows – she also met her now-husband, former Brady Bunch star Christopher Knight, on one of them.
