Jessica Ennis, Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins are being tipped to join Mo Farah as guest mentors on a special edition of The The X Factor later this series.

According to the Mirror the foursome will take part in an Olympic-themed show during the live finals – with each of them given one of the categories to mentor.

News of their involvement comes following earlier reports that double gold medallist Farah had been snapped up to take part.

And the signing is being seen as a massive coup for Simon Cowell, who has reportedly paid around £1m to get the quartet on the programme.

“X Factor producers were literally jumping up and down with delight when they heard that all four Team GB stars had agreed to do the show,” a source told the paper.

“The four of them are going to take a category each and spend the day giving contestants motivational advice. “If these wannabes really want to achieve their dreams and win the X Factor then there are no better people to spend time with.”

Producers are also reported to be choosing a number of ‘Olympic’-themed tracks for the finalists to perform on the night – with Cowell said to be delighted by his signing, especially after so many of Team GB’s winners – including Rebecca Adlington and Victoria Pendleton have been linked to Strictly Come Dancing.

“The Olympics were an absolute sensation, and Simon is determined to cash in on the goodwill and enthusiasm of the country,” the source added.

“He can also see the irony of using the stars of what was ultimately a BBC event to help boost his own ratings.

“And if his mind wasn’t already made up, the moment he heard that Strictly was linked to some of the athletes he knew he had to act fast. In Mo, Bradley, Chris and Jess he has bagged arguably the cream of the crop from Team GB, and he is ecstatic they are going to be involved.”
