ITV boss Michael Grade has apologised to viewers after a technical fault interrupted the FA Cup match between Everton and Liverpool.
Football fans were livid after missing a crucial Everton goal when ITV1 broadcast an advert break during the last few minutes of the game.
Lucky viewers in some regions saw substitute Dan Gosling score the winning goal, but the majority were only shown the victory celebrations. ITV have received 1000 complaints following the glitch.
Grade said he was as ‘disappointed as anyone to miss the goal’ and said the mistake was ‘inexcusable’, according to BBC News.
“We have years of experience in dealing with the changes in ad break patterns when games go into extra time and sometimes penalties,” he said.
“This we have done faultlessly through the Champions League, World Cup and European Championships.
“We are awaiting the results of our technical inquiry so we can put in place stringent and immediate procedures to address this,” he added.
