TV and film actor Kris Marshall was in intensive care in a Bristol hospital on Sunday after being run over.
The Daily Mirror reports that the My Family star had been on a boozy night out with friends when he was hit by the car and suffered a serious head injury.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: “There was a collision between a car and pedestrian shortly before 1am on Sunday. It happened in St Augustine’s Parade in Bristol City Centre. A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with head injuries not considered to be life-threatening.
“Police spoke to the driver of the car involved, which was a VW Polo. He stopped immediately after the collision and we are looking into how it happened. He was not a drink driver.”
A friend said: “His family are obviously worried as any head injury causes great concern. But he is awake, which is some comfort to them.”
Marshall, 34, won best comedy newcomer at the British Comedy Awards in 2002 and had a scene stealing role in the hit movie Love, Actually. Most recently he’s starred in BT’s TV advertising campaign.
His family last night remained by his bedside at Bristol Royal Infirmary.
