Last night, I went to the premiere of Zac Efron‘s latest movie 17 Again, co-starring Matthew Perry and Leslie Mann. Remember when I got caught up in the Twilight premiere? Add more, many many more, shrieking pre-teen and teenage girls dressed to kill and you’ll get an idea of last night’s hysteria in Leicester Square as the little man arrived in his super sharp grey suit. Yep, he’s a wee one – the Michael J Fox of the noughties. I’m sure Zac too will be able to take on teenage roles well into his thirties, if he wants to. He’s already breaking free from the musical genre by turning down the Footloose remake to do supernatural tearjerker The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud instead. Smart move!
Now, with the risk of sounding very much like Matthew Perry’s character (while inside Zac Efron’s body), I must express my shock at how grown-up and revealing some of the outfits were on Zac’s young fans. Then again, Leslie Mann’s 10-year-old daughter licked her mother’s face on the day she shot the kissing scene with Efron because she wanted to, er, taste his spit…
Saliva aside, the movie is actually a lot funnier than I had expected. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty much painting by numbers, after all the body swap theme and all its variations has been around the block a few times, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.
Another child star all growed up is Lindsay Lohan
Gwyneth Paltrow‘s clothes?! Gwynnie’s currently busy designing a 1970s inspired vintage clothing line with a French fashion label. Oh la la!
These Hollywood stars…they don’t need to be 17 again to correct past mistakes or change careers – they just do it all! Perhaps something for us all to aspire to?
Check out Gwyneth Paltrow’s latest (and Joaquin Phoenix’s last) movie, Two Lovers, which is out in cinemas today and well worth a look. Here’s the trailer:
