Nicola Duffett, who as Debbie in EastEnders was married to Nigel, pops up in BBC2 drama
Ex EastEnders actress Nicola Duffett, who famously played Debbie Bates in the soap, will appear next Monday in BBC2’s big new drama Collateral.
The 55-year-old actress stars in the four-part thriller in which the murder of a pizza delivery driver sets off a chain of events that affects several members of a London community.
Nicola – whose big break came in 1993 in EastEnders when she was cast as Debbie, who was killed in a hit-and-run in 1995 – plays Alice Stone in Collateral, the seriously ill mother of Laurie (Hayley Squires), the manager of a takeaway shop where the murder victim worked.
Police suspect that Laurie knows more than she’s letting on on about the crime, but with her mum’s health to think about she doesn’t want to get involved in the investigation…
Collateral stars Carey Mulligan
As well as starring in EastEnders, Nicola also appeared from 1998 to 2005 as blustery Cat Matthews in Channel 5 soap Family Affairs.
Nicola also starred in the 2010 movie Made in Dagenham and has had guest roles in loads of TV shows, including Doc Martin, New Tricks and Waterloo Road.
Collateral begins on Monday on BBC2 at 9pm.
