Lee Mack's sitcom Not Going Out is returning in 2017 and Lee and Lucy will now be a family unit, complete with three young children
Lee Mack’s hit sitcom Not Going Out will return in 2017 and married couple Lee and Lucy will have three young children, says the BBC.
Not Going Out is the story of layabout Lee (Lee Mack) who has lived for free in the apartment of his friend’s sister Lucy (Sally Bretton) has developed into a popular, mainstream comedy over seven series. Their will they/won’t they get together story culminated in their marriage in a Christmas special in 2015
The new series will be set some time in the future and Lee and Lucy will now have a complete brood of three children.
Shane Allen, BBC controller of comedy commissioning, said: “Not Going Out is on its way to modern classic status as it clocks up another richly gag-packed and comic incident heavy series. The jump forward introduction of their kids provides Lee and Lucy with a new family domestic setting and springboard to broaden out their world from a ‘will they, won’t they?’ dynamic to the ‘why the hell have we?’ that comes with parenting.”
The new series will also see the return of uptight friends Toby (Hugh Dennis) and Anna (Abigail Cruttenden), not to mention Lee’s devious father (Bobby Ball), along with other.
No word yet on exactly when Not Going Out will screen next year.
