Olivia Colman has confirmed that she will star in the second series of Broadchurch when it returns next year.
The actress is going back to her role as detective sergeant Ellie Miller in the hit murder mystery, according to The Sun.
She was speaking at a screening of her new BBC One drama The 7.39 and said of the Broadchurch role: “I don’t want to get myself in trouble, but I think it’s set in stone.”
But Olivia, who starred in Broadchurch alongside David Tennant, will not be joining him on filming the US version of the show.
She took time off from work over the summer and said: “I was nervous I wouldn’t know what to do with myself, but it turns out I am more than brilliant at doing nothing.”
Olivia has a third series of sitcom Rev in the works and will star in The 7.39 at Christmas, a drama about commuters Sally (Sheridan Smith) and Carl (David Morrissey), who begin an affair after meeting on a commuter train to London.
Olivia plays Carl’s wife and Sean Maguire is Sally’s fiance.
