Choreographer Karen Bruce has emerged as the latest potential candidate to join the judging panel of Strictly Come Dancing, following Alesha Dixon’s departure.

According to the sun Karen – who previously worked on So You Think You Can Dance and also choreographed the Take That musical – has been given the thumbs up from the show’s producers as well as the professional dancers following screen tests.

And if lands the job she will beat higher-profile competition from a shortlist which is thought to include fellow choreographer and dancer Karen Hardy, and 2010 champion Kara Tointon.

“Karen has really impressed bosses,” an insider told the paper.

“She is gutsy and ballsy and not afraid to give her opinion or say what she thinks – which is just what Strictly needs. She also comes with an expert knowledge of dance.”

However the source added that the fact Karen was a virtual unknown could stand in the way of her getting the job.

An announcement regarding Alesha’s replacement is expected to be made in the next few weeks, after she quit the judging panel earlier this year to join Britain’s Got Talent.
