Pete’s Peek | Ethan Hawke isn’t the only one getting scared out of their wits in Sinister

‘You’ll want to keep the lights on after watching this creeping tale of terror’

Desperately in need of a best seller, true crime writer Ellison (Ethan Hawke) sensationally moves his wife and kids into the home of his latest subject: a missing girl whose family who were found hanging in a tree outside the house. But when Ellison finds shocking new evidence about their deaths in a box of old home movie films and discovers the existence of an ancient demon that eats children, he comes to the horrible realisation that he has placed his own family in mortal danger.

The scariest thing about Sinister isn’t just the spooky apparitions that jump out from the shadows, but the things that go crash, bang, wallop in the night. Well, what do you expect from the people who brought you Insidious, Paranormal Activity and The Exorcism of Emily Rose? Sinister also features one of the most frightening soundtracks I have heard in ages that’s guaranteed to give you nightmares.

On release 5 October.
