Piers lands Clooney and Gervais for CNN show

Piers Morgan’s guests for the first week of his new US chat show will include George Clooney and Ricky Gervais, CNN has revealed.

Other interviewees on the opening shows of Piers Morgan Tonight have been named as radio shock-jock Howard Stern and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Piers’ new show premieres in the US on January 17, filling the slot once held by chat show legend Larry King.

Audiences in almost 200 countries will be able to watch each episode via the CNN website.

The first-night guest has already been announced as Oprah Winfrey.

UK viewers will be able to watch that interview when it’s broadcast online at 8pm on January 18. Piers Morgan Tonight will be repeated three times daily on CNN International, at 2am, 12noon and 8pm.

The former Daily Mirror editor, best known to US viewers as a judge on America’s Got Talent, has also cited President Barack Obama as one of his dream guests.
