Reality TV star Mark Wright to do Strictly Come Dancing – without fiancée Michelle Keegan

Former TOWIE hunk Mark Wright has reportedly signed up for Strictly Come Dancing – but his fiancée, ex-Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan, has turned down an invitation to compete in the dance contest.

BBC bosses wanted the pair, both 27, to add some sex appeal to the new series.

However, according to The Sun, Michelle turned down the offer so she could concentrate on her acting career.

But BBC bosses are said to be confident that Mark can win over their audience given his success as runner-up in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2011.

“Having a couple going head-to-head would have made great TV, but we are delighted to have Mark,” an insider told the newspaper.

Also in the running to appear are Andy Murray’s mum Judy, recently retired football pundit Alan Hansen, DJ Greg James, presenter Helen Skelton and Frankie Sandford from The Saturdays.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC1 in the autumn.
