The Cat and co will be back for more madcap adventures in space...
Red Dwarf star Danny John-Jules has confirmed that the sci-fi comedy will be back for a new series.
Danny, who plays The Cat, revealed that filming is due to begin later this year.
And it means that Danny will be reunited with Craig Charles (Dave Lister), Chris Barrie (Rimmer) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten).
Speaking to The Sun, Danny said: “All we know is it’s going to be done by the end of the year. We haven’t seen a script yet, it’s all in negotiation. But I’m never worried about Red Dwarf. I’ve never been so comfortable in a gig.
“The fans are over the moon, spinning cartwheels because unless you’re watching Netflix, what are you going to watch as a sitcom in England.”
Red Dwarf originally started out on BBC2 in 1988 before switching homes to Dave, where it’s been screened since 2009.
Outside of Red Dwarf, Danny appeared on Strictly Come Dancing last year and also became a huge fan favourite on Death in Paradise.
Danny quit his role as Officer Dwayne Myers last year. Speaking to TV Times, Danny later explained his reasons for leaving.
He said: “I left Death in Paradise because I wanted to get back on stage. I needed a bit more razzmatazz in my life, and then along came Strictly!”
It’s likely the new series of Red Dwarf will be screened next year.
