Red Dwarf will return with two new series

We’ve already reported that Craig Charles is quitting Coronation Street to return to the Emmy award-winning sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf…

Now we can confirm that Craig, who plays Lister, will be reunited with Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Robert Llewellyn as Kryten (pictured) plus Danny John-Jules as Cat, for the two new series, to be screen on Dave in 2016 and 2017. Red Dwarf Xl and Red Dward Xll begin production in the autumn.

“Red Dwarf has superb talent attached,” says UKTV commissioning editor Simon Lupton. “It has universal appear that manages to touch long-standing fans and recruit new one. It’s fantastic to be collaborating with them again on the next phase of the Red Dwarf adventure.”

To celebrate, UKTV has added a bespoke collection of previous episodes, including the complete Red Dwarf X series, to its on demand service UKTV Play, which is available via the iOS or Android app, Virgin TV, YouView and at uktvplay.co.uk.

Red Dwarf X will also be available as a box set on Sky Go and Sky set-top boxes.
