Robbie Savage waltzes off ‘Strictly’ dancefloor

Robbie Savage has missed out on a place in the Strictly Come Dancing semi-final after becoming the latest celebrity to be voted off the show.

The footballer had previously missed out on the bottom two throughout the series despite a string of low scores from the judges – but his luck ran out on Sunday night’s results show when he found himself up against Jason Donovan in the danger zone.

And a combination of judges’ scores and public votes saw him exit the dancefloor for good.

Afterwards he said that he had loved “everything” about being on the show.

“People didn’t know who I was before I came to this show,” Robbie admitted. “I wasn’t a nice guy on the football pitch and hopefully I have changed people’s perceptions of me and they can see that I’m just a normal decent guy.”

His dance partner Ola Jordan also paid tribute to him, saying, “I’ve had such a brilliant time with you, teaching you has been brilliant.”

Robbie had finished bottom of the judges’ scoreboard on Saturday night’s movie-themed show, scoring 30 points out of 40 for his Reservoir Dogs inspired quickstep.

Craig Revel Horwood had compared him to “a rabbit doing a trot,” while Bruno Tonioli had added, “You were somewhere between Kate Moss and Russell Brand. You were trying very hard.”

Five couples will now compete in next Saturday’s semi-final, with a double elimination on Sunday to determine the final line-up.

Harry Judd and Chelsee Healey both sailed through to next week on the public vote, as did Alex Jones despite finishing second last on the judges’ scoreboard. And Holly Valance also made it through after narrowly avoiding elimination twice in the past two weeks.

Harry, Chelsee and Alex are now the only remaining celebrities who have so far avoided the bottom two for the entire series.
