Roxanne Pallett says she has no plans to return to Emmerdale, despite ex-husband Andy Sugden being at the centre of some big storylines, including domestic abuse.

Instead, Roxanne, 31, has been working in film, most recently making an American slasher movie, Wrong Turn 6, and gritty British drama, The Violators, due out next year.

She plays Carla in The Violators, written by Helen Walsh and set in the urban overspill of Cheshire. The story centres around the dysfunctional lives of two girls with opposite backgrounds and their journeys in teenage life.

Roxanne left the role of Jo Sugden in Emmerdale in 2008 and while she has no plans to return she paid tribute to the skills she developed on the ITV soap.

She told What’s on TV: “Soap’s very quick and you’ve got to be really at the top of your game and disciplined because you shoot every day – there’s no rehearsal.”

She says starring in Emmerdale for four years hadn’t typecast her as a soap actress and, in fact, she felt lucky her career had become so varied.

Roxanne’s currently the face of Gallo Family Vineyards Summer Rosé
