DS Phil Hunter will soon be making his exit from Sun Hill – but it won’t be the last time we see actor Scott Maslen, who plays him.

For handsome Scott will shortly be cropping up in EastEnders as Max Branning’s long-lost brother, Jack.

Scott has spent the past five years playing The Bill’s slickest and sexiest cop, whose wandering eye has caused him numerous problems.

“I am very sad to be leaving The Bill, but after five years I wanted to explore new opportunities,” says the actor.

“The Bill has afforded me some fantastic storylines and I know they have some really great stories planned for the coming months.”

Executive producer Jonathan Young says: “Scott has been a fantastic part of The Bill team for the last five years, as the popular character DS Phil Hunter. We wish him all the greatest success for his next role.”

Since Hunter first turned up, he’s been involved in some memorable storylines, including stitching up junkie cop Nick Klein.

He also discovered he’d fathered the child of a crime-lord’s wife, causing numerous problems.

But as he leaves Sun Hill, Phil becomes convinced nobody will be sorry to see him go. Will he be proved right?

Scott’s final scenes in The Bill will be shown on October 17.
