The X Factor bosses have ruled out any chance of a romance between contestants by hiring a security guard to keep an eye on them.

Every year there seems to be one couple who sets the romantic rumours alive on the X Factor – Diana Vickers and Eoughan Quigg, Stacey Solomon and Oli Murs – but not this year if bosses can help it.

A security guard has been hired to walk the halls of the house where the contestants are staying to make sure no funny business occurs after hours.

The first two acts to have left this year’s competition, boyband FYD and Niccolo Festa, have revealed they were stunned when they first saw the man signed up to stop any of the contestants sneaking into each other’s rooms.

Speaking to Reveal magazine, FYD singer Matt Newton said: “You want to see the security guard that patrols the hallways. No one is getting in and no one is sneaking into anyone else’s rooms.”

His 22-year old bandmate, Ryan-Lee Seager, added: “When you go to the toilet at night, you get a flashlight in your face. He’s at the door practically counting the minutes.”

The Italian contestant Nicolo Festa also spoke of his time in the house: “There are people keeping an eye on us 24/7.

“Simon Cowell would slay us if he found out anything was going on.”
