The Sunday Mirror reports that the 60-year-old is set to return to Los Angeles and enjoy retirement with rock star husband Ozzy.

Sources close to Sharon say that she also wants to be nearer to her 16-month-old granddaughter Pearl as well as son Jack, 27, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis last year.

“She is ready to retire, give up the showbiz world and lead a quiet life,” a source told the paper.

“She is relishing the idea that she will be able to spend all the time in the world with her little granddaughter Pearl.”

The insider added that Sharon was “devastated” after Jack’s wife Lisa Stelly suffered a tragic miscarriage recently.

“She and Ozzy have had a tough year,” the source said, “and realise how working in different countries has put a strain on their marriage.”

Sharon was seen on Saturday night’s X Factor being reduced to tears by the return of a former contestant she rejected at the judges’ houses stage.

Stephanie Wood, who was just 14 when she previously took part, wowed the panel with her version of Snow Patrol’s Run, winning a place at Wembley.
