Shayne Ward, winner of The X Factor in 2005, is back with a new album after three years.

And what’s more he’s back with the support of Simon Cowell, he tells The Sun.

“Simon is still my boss, we just wanted to get the album right,” said Shayne about his long absence. “Simon has 100 per cent belief in me, so we’re all very excited.”

Shayne, 25, said he’d been spent preparing material for his album.

“It’s important to go away, discover yourself and like the new material you come across,” he said.

“It has been a long journey, but I’m very excited about being back and getting back on the stage.”

He said that he had been working hard on his fitness, too, adding: “I’ve been training so hard for this. It’s important that I become physically fit again for this new campaign because I’m raring to go.

“I think I’m a lot better than I’ve been in the previous years, so bring it on.”

Shayne added that he is not concerned about the possibility of a head-to-head competition between himself and other X Factor winner Joe McElderry, who is releasing his debut album.

“If it does come out at the same time, I don’t know. I’ve met Joe before and he’s a lovely lad. I wish him the best of luck.”
