Simon Cowell has revealed that he has every confidence in the new X Factor USA judging panel, saying that they have ‘just clicked’.
He and existing panellist Demi Lovato have now been joined by Latina pop star Paulina Rubio and former X Factor UK judge Kelly Rowland on the new series, following the departure of Britney Spears and LA Reid.
And he admitted that he has been very pleased with the way the new line-up have gelled in recent auditions.
“If you’d asked me a month ago I would have said I honestly don’t know,” he said when asked if he had the perfect panel.
“But recent auditions in Charleston were by far the best two days we’ve shot.
“It suddenly just clicked. And there’s one audition in particular that’s probably one of my favourites that I’ve ever been involved in – a one-in-10-million audition. I can’t stop thinking about it. I think we may have got it right.”
Simon’s previous show American Idol is also set to undergo a panel change following the departure of both Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey within hours of each other on Friday.
However the mogul admitted the programme was “not my problem any more”.
He added: “It’s so much in my past now. I deliberately this year didn’t watch a single second of the show.”
