Simon Cowell has admitted that he wants to be cryogenically frozen after he dies – describing it as an “insurance policy”.

Speaking to GQ magazine the X Factor mogul provided an insight into his eccentric lifestyle – which also includes daily smoothies and weekly vitamin injections.

And he revealed that he wants to join others who have signed up to have their corpse preserved in ice, and possibly restored to life in the future.

“It’s an insurance policy,” he said. “If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. But if it does work, I’ll be happy.

“If it’s possible – and I think it will be – why not have a second crack? Does that sound crazy? I have a feeling that if I don’t do it, I could regret it in 300 years.

Over 1,000 people have reportedly signed up for the procedure, which is offered by two firms in the US.

For a fee of around £120,000 they can have their body frozen in liquid nitrogen after death, then thawed out when a cure is found for whatever caused their death.

In the interview, Simon also revealed that he has a weekly injection of a cocktail of vitamins which he says is “indescribable but very calming” – and starts his day with papaya juice, oatmeal, a cup of tea and a tray of smoothies.

“I love to wake up in a good mood and look forward to what’s coming,” he said. “As soon as that tray is put in front of me, I can’t wait to have it.”
