Simon Cowell made his long-awaited return to The X Factor UK on Saturday night – but it wasn’t as part of the panel.
The mogul showed up briefly on the big band-themed show with some advice for the remaining contestants – and also some good news.
“All of you will be taking part in the X Factor tour,” he told the eight acts.
“You’ve got to be focused, you’ve got to be amazing and you’ve got to sell millions of records. Good luck.”
The news means that those buying tickets for the 2014 X Factor tour can look forward to seeing the likes of Tamera Foster, Nicholas MacDonald, Hannah Barrett, Luke Friend, Sam Bailey and Rough Copy.
The tour, which will take in venues across England and Scotland, is due to kick off in February.
Simon’s appearance on the show comes in the wake of rumours that he may be rejoining the panel for good next year.
Reports have suggested he is attempting to bring both Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue back as judges as well as come back himself after three seasons away on X Factor USA.
Ratings for the current series of that show are continuing to disappoint, falling below the 4m mark in the US this week.
