Simon Cowell has retained his crown as the king of TV, after coming top of a list of highest earning TV personalities.

While Simon, who is reported to be fathering a child with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, is a judge on the American version of The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, his work behind-the-scenes with his ownership stakes in those two franchises and his Syco record label – whose signings include One Direction and Leona Lewis – boosted his earnings to an estimated US$95million (£61million) in the past 12 months from June 2012 to June 2013.

Shock jock Howard Stern took the joint top spot with Simon, with his work on his SiriusXM radio show and America’s Got Talent judging role contributing to his income.

US talk show host Glenn Beck came third, while chat show queen Oprah and Dr Phil McGraw took the fourth and fifth spots.

Donald Trump, who stars in the US version of The Apprentice, American Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest and Ellen all appear in the top 10, alongside Judy Sheindlin and Rush Limbaugh.
