Simon Cowell has beaten Donald Trump in a list of the top earners on American prime-time TV.
The X Factor judge scored high with record ratings for his American Idol show, which placed him as the highest-earning celebrity, pocketing around 75 million US dollars between June 2008 and June 2009, according to Forbes.com.
Donald Trump, star of The Apprentice, banked an estimated 50 million US dollars, putting him in second place.
He was followed by American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, who earned around 38 million US dollars, Two And A Half Men’s Charlie Sheen and Steve Carell.
“The American Idol judge everyone loves to loathe has found multiple avenues to cash in, including judging, producing and music publishing,” explained Forbes.com’s Lacey Rose.
“Donald Trump, the real-estate baron, lends his name to everything from alcohol to neck ties, and reaps millions from global speeches and books.”
Other celebrities who made the top 10 include House star Hugh Laurie, 24’s Kiefer Sutherland, Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick ‘McDreamy’ Dempsey, and CSI Miami’s David Caruso.
