Sir Patrick Stewart to play Brit TV newscaster in US comedy Blunt Talk

Sir Patrick Stewart will star in a new US comedy, Blunt Talk, executive produced by Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane.

Sir Patrick will play Walter Blunt, an abrasive, borderline alcoholic British TV newscaster causing shockwaves on US television in 20 episodes over two series, which will screen on Starz channel, according to Variety.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said: “In the character of Walter Blunt, Seth, Jonathan [Aames, writer] and Patrick have found the alchemy that makes a borderline alcoholic, mad-genius-Brit the man you want fighting in America’s corner.

“Seth and Jonathan have struck the right balance between biting wit and outright absurdity in building this world, and we cannot wait for Patrick to breathe life into Walter.”

No word yet on whether a UK network will screen Blunt Talk.
