Jamie Dornan has revealed he is ‘excited’ about playing Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Of Grey.
The Fall star admitted that he had ‘a slight fear’ about taking on the controversial role, after replacing Charlie Hunnam. But despite the expectations and the pressure, he can’t wait to get started on the big-screen adaptation of EL James’ erotic novel.
“There was a slight fear. But beyond anything else, I was really f****** excited,” the 31-year-old told Entertainment Weekly.
Jamie, who portrayed serial killer Paul Spector in BBC Two series The Fall, said he isn’t fazed by the raunchy scenes in the forthcoming film, which also stars Dakota Johnson as his love interest Anastasia Steele.
“I’m a fairly worldly guy. I grew up in a very liberal place. I’m not shocked by the sex in the book,” he explained.
“It’s essential to tell the story. I can’t believe films that don’t invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me,” he added.
His co-star Dakota, who has gone brunette for the role, revealed she had been hitting the gym to prepare for the nude scenes.
“Obviously, I want to look good naked. I totally understand now why people exercise because it kind of f****** feels awesome,” she said.
The Fifty Shades Of Grey film was originally scheduled to be released in August 2014, but has been pushed back to February 13, 2015.
