Stacey Dooley is the eighth name to be announced

TV presenter Stacey Dooley is the latest name announced for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 31-year-old, who was born in Liverpool, is best known for her Stacey Dooley Investigates series which has included documentaries on child labour and cannabis smugglers.

In June Stacey, who’s been awarded an MBE for services to broadcasting, appeared in Celebrities on the NHS Frontline, a BBC1 documentary which saw four stars scrub up with medics at London’s King’s College Hospital to gain an insight into the pressures they face.

Stacey, who had a hear murmur as a child, visited the pioneering Heart Attack Centre and Liver Unity. Earlier today it was revealed that Dr Ranj Singh, best known for being on This Morning and CBeebies, was also going to be on this year’s Strictly.

The new series of Strictly Come Dancing, expected to start in early September, will see presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman return, along with judges Shirley Ballas, Bruno Tonioli, Dame Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel Horwood.

The line-up so far is Dr Ranj Singh, former cricketer Graeme Swann, TV presenter Katie Piper, Steps singer Faye Tozer, Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules, YouTube star Joe Sugg, DJ Vick Hope and, of course, Stacey Dooley.
