Stacey calls him 'my boy'
Strictly Come Dancing favourite Stacey Dooley has revealed that vlogger Joe Sugg is her top friend on the BBC1 hit out of the show’s contestants.
Stacey revealed that she was good friends with Joe, saying: “Joe Sugg is my boy, my bro, but you have got this gang, this odd family, and you are all in it together with a sense of camaraderie.”
But on the dancefloor the pair are at war, with Stacey the bookies favourite to take the title, while Joe is the second favourite and thus her biggest threat.
Meanwhile, Stacey said that she refused to blub when Craig Revel Horwood gave her a score of four earlier in the competition.
Stacey put on a brave face when Craig told her that the cha-cha she danced in week two was “stiff” – it only got a total score of 20, her lowest on the BBC1 show so far.
“With the cha-cha, I knew it wasn’t my thing. When Craig gave it a score of four and said, ‘I didn’t like anything about it,” I thought you’re a grown woman, don’t cry.’”
Talking about the highlights of the series so far for her, Stacey picked out two: “The Minions jive was our thing and the Doctor Who tango was nice because we were playing with the fact that Jodie Whittaker is the first female Doctor and it was exciting so I could say, ‘Kev, listen to what I’m saying!’”
Stacey, who will front an upcoming BBC1 documentary about homelessness, she says she’s loving be part of the BBC1 favourite.
“It’s a total departure for me and so much fun! My work is normally quite intense and serious but Strictly is complete escapism and the most incredible thing I’ve ever done – but so frightening.”
Strictly Come Dancing – featuring Stacey Dooley – continues this Saturday on BBC1.
