A host of celebrities turned out for Simon Cowell’s lavish 50th birthday party in Hertfordshire on Saturday night.

Around 400 guests attended the black-tie bash at stately home Wroxham Hall, including fellow X Factor judges Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue, former series winners Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis, TV presenter Holly Willoughby and chef Gordon Ramsay.

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden was also present, as was former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips.

Pictures from the party showed that a huge marquee had been put up in the grounds of the mansion and cabaret acts included a Frank Sinatra tribute singer and a troupe of dancing girls.

There were also performances from Lewis, Westlife and Cowell’s operatic proteges Il Divo – while supermodel Kate Moss is reported to have sung a birthday tribute to the mogul.

The Sunday Mirror reports that the walls of the marquee were adorned with portraits of Cowell.

The event was reportedly organised by Lady Tina Green, wife of retail billionaire Sir Philip Green. He is said to be in talks with Cowell over creating a new global entertainment business.

However Cowell’s friend Sinitta admitted it would probably be the last time he would celebrate his birthday in such spectacular fashion.

“He said it was the first and last party he’d have to celebrate a birthday,” she said. “He really hates fuss.”

‘It’s daunting for him. He really does hate being the centre of attention. When he’s on the X Factor it’s a stage persona but off screen he’s a people watcher. He loves sitting back and knowing his friends are having a good time. But he hates people making a fuss over him.”
