Steve, with partner Ola Jordan, had been bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night with just 23 points and Sunetra, with Brendan Cole, was just above him, with 30 points.
“There’s no shame in being in the dance-off in week nine,” Steve said. “But you know what? We can do that dance better.”
“Of course he can do it better,” Len said. “In the dance-off, it’s not the dog in the fight, it’s the fight in the dog.”
It was Sunetra’s second dance-off in a row but the judges had said on the Saturday that she had improved.
“Definitely better,” Craig had told Sunetra.
Craig didn’t feel that same about Steve’s jive, telling him it was “all very stumpy, with very stiff kicks and flicks”.
But Steve did get Darcey’s vote in the dance-off.
“We’ve danced every dance as if it was our last,” Steve said at the end.
And this time it was.
That leaves seven celebrities fighting for a place in the final on December 20.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC1, Saturday, November 29, 7.00pm.
