Week nine of Strictly Come Dancing 2009 was one of the most dramatic yet….
There was a surprise for viewers at the start – with diminutive funnyman Ronnie Corbett standing in for Bruce Forsyth!
Corbett stepped in as guest host after Forsyth pulled out of the show with flu
Phil Tufnell and Katya Varshilas kicked things off with an American Smooth – but could it keep them out of the bottom two?
Ricky Whittle performed a high-speed jive….
…..he and partner Natalie Lowe even fitted in a few tricky stunts!
The other Ricky – Groves that is – was hoping to avoid another dance-off this week with his Viennese Waltz
Chris Hollins’ paso doble to The Darkness hit I Believe In A Thing Called Love was certainly dramatic – but divided the judges
Laila Rouass tried her best to perform her rumba despite spraining her ankle earlier in the day, but it all proved too much….
The tearful actress received lots of sympathy from the judges – but low marks
Natalie Cassidy once again received good reviews, this time for her elegant foxtrot with partner Vincent Simone
Finally Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna cha cha cha-ed their way on to the dancefloor
They couldn’t match the 40 out of 40 score from last week but did well nonetheless
But in the end it was time to say goodbye to Phil and Katya, who narrowly lost out to Ricky Groves in the dance-off
