Fairy tale theme for this year’s special

EastEnders star Jake Wood, aka Max Branning, is one of six stars announced tonight who’ll be taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special.

Jake will be joining other former favourites Anita Rani, Ann Widdecombe, Caroline Flack, Aston Merrygold and Michael Vaughan on the dancefloor for the festive special which will go out on Christmas Day.

Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special line up

The sensational six set for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special!

The 46-year-old soap actor, who narrowly missed out on a spot on the final when he took part in Strictly in 2014, said: “It’s been a few years since I donned the sequins so I can’t wait to do it all over again for the Christmas special. I loved my experience on Strictly Come Dancing and I jumped at the chance when they asked if I wanted to step back onto the dancefloor.”

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will host the special, which will also boast the regular judging line-up: Craig Revel Horwood, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Head Judge Shirley Ballas.

Former winner and Love Island host Caroline commented: “I can’t quite believe it’s been four years since I had the best time of my life, dancing with Pasha on the Strictly dance floor.

“My glitter ball still has pride of place in my living room! It always felt like a family at the Strictly studios, so how could I say no to performing one last time on this year’s Christmas special? It’ll be the best present I could imagine.”

The theme for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will be fairy tales and making dreams come true – and former England cricket captain Michael hints he might need some Christmas magic to have a chance of being crowned the festive champion!

Michael said: “Having not danced at all since 2012 I can’t be any worse than then as I had no clue then, still have no clue, but can’t wait to have some fun and at least it will help lose a few pounds over the Xmas party season!”

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special will be on BBC1 on Christmas Day.
