Strictly Come Dancing: Full house for Abbey!

The first 40 of Strictly Come Dancing 2013 has been given out – and the lucky recipient was Abbey Clancy.

The model notched up the impressive full house on Saturday’s musicals themed show, with a Saturday Night Fever-inspired salsa which even impressed Craig Revel Horwood into giving his first ten of the series.

And the routine proved to be the high point of a show which saw several of the seven remaining couples jostling for attention at the top of the scoreboard.

“I thought it was absolutely a-ma-zing,” the notoriously hard-to-please Craig told her – while Bruno Tonioli added: “You were dancing between two professional girls and I could not tell the difference.”

Afterwards both Abbey and partner Aljaz Skorjanec shrieked as the top scores were given, with Tess Daly joking they were “the most excited couple ever” to receive the accolade.

They weren’t the only ones to make a big impact on Saturday night’s show – with Patrick Robinson also notching up his highest marks yet for his charleston with Anya Garnis.

The Casualty star added three more tens to his previous single full house – for his American Smooth earlier in the series – with an energetic performance which the pro dancers later dubbed ‘the routine of the series’.

But while Bruno was enthusiastic, calling the routine full of ‘va va voom’, Craig wasn’t quite as kind, saying the routine was ‘spectacular’ but ‘flat-footed’ – and giving him just eight points compared to the trio of tens from the others.

It was also a good night for Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who equalled her best score of the series with a 36 for her Viennese Waltz, while Natalie Gumede once again excelled with 37 for her American Smooth.

Meanwhile Ashley Taylor Dawson picked up 35 points for his Aladdin themed rumba – while Susanna Reid had a disappointing night, finishing in second last place with with 33 for her efforts with the quickstep.

Mark Benton – who is hoping to avoid a fourth successive dance off – finished bottom of the heap, albeit with a creditable 29 points for his Lion King-inspired samba.

The results will be revealed on Sunday evening’s Strictly, with one couple missing out on a place in next weekend’s quarter-final.
