"Whoever I dance with has to be taller, wider and have bigger feet."
BBC news presenter Kate Silverton has just been announced as the latest Strictly signing – and it seems she can’t wait to get started!
Kate’s already scouted out her top pick when it comes to a dancing partner, revealing that she would “love” to be paired up with Aljaz Skorjanec.
It would be a wise move to partner up with this talented dancer in our opinion, as he danced his way to the finals with partner Gemma Atkinson in 2017.
“I’d love to be paired with Aljaz,” Kate told the Daily Mail. “He’s got an element of fun, but equally he will teach me, and there’s going to be a lot to learn.
“Let’s say the benchmark is quite low. Whoever I dance with has to be taller, wider and have bigger feet.”
Kate is set to go up against some stiff competition in this year’s Strictly, with professional dancers Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer also taking part.
And it would appear that her dancing skills are currently rather limited, as she admits she “messed up” her wedding dance with husband Mike Heron.
“I messed it up,” she explained. “My feet got in the way.”
Kate’s feet are a size nine, which means she will have to have some “special” shoes made for her stint on the show.
“Strictly didn’t have any big enough,” she revealed.
This won’t be an issue for Kate, however, who demonstrated a lighthearted approach to the show during the interview.
“That’s what I want to do with Strictly — have fun,” she shared. “For as much serious news as there is out there, there is also the equivalent amount of fun and joy.
“You ask, why Strictly? Why not Strictly?! I love music. I love dancing with the children in the kitchen.”
Good luck Kate – we can’t wait to see you on the floor!
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One this autumn.
