Natalie Gumede has staked her claim to a place in the Strictly Come Dancing final after picking up the second full house of the series.

The former Coronation Street actress stunned the judges as she and partner Artem Chigvintsev took to the floor with a salsa, one of two routines they performed on Saturday’s show.

And the performance even impressed Craig Revel Horwood enough to give one of his all-too-rare tens.

“I’m a little upset actually as I couldn’t find much wrong with it,” he commented. “It’s the most animated I have ever seen you and it was wonderful to watch.”

Meanwhile Len Goodman added: “If you can dance your other dance to this standard, 100 per cent you’re in the final.”

Natalie was almost as impressive in the second half of the show when she became only the third contestant so far this series to tackle an Argentine tango.

Darcey Bussell told her: “It was extraordinary…the attitude could not have been better,” while Bruno Tonioli added: “Everything was on point…it was a wonderful dance for me.”

It was also a good night for Abbey Clancy, who narrowly missed out on full houses for both her samba with partner Aljaz Skorjanec and her American Smooth.

“It was full of charisma and you have an enormous amount of style,” Craig told her.

Meanwhile Len concluded: “I think I’ll see you next week in the final.”

Sunday’s Strictly will see one of the five remaining celebrities – who also include Patrick Robinson, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Susanna Reid – sent home, missing out on a place in next weekend’s final.

Casualty star Patrick is the favourite to be given the boot – which would mean a female competitor lifting the glitterball trophy for the first time since Kara Tointon won in 2010.
